The theory of relativity by Albert Einstien includes the two main theories: special and genaral relativity. It explains the structure of space time.Special relativity theory is based on two postulates:
- The laws of physics are same for all observers in uniform motion relative to one another.
- Speed of light is same for all observers regardless of their motion or the motion of ligt source.
General relativity is a theory of gravitationdevelopment of general relativity began with the equivalence principle in which the states of accelarated motion and being at rest in a field are physically identical. Some of the outputs of general relativity are:
- Time goes slower in higher gravitational fields.
- Orbits precess in a way unexpected in Newton's theory of gravity.
- Rays of light bend in the presence of a gravitational field
- A rotating mass drags along the space time around it.
- The universe is expanding and the far parts of it are moving away from us faster than the speed of light.
